Treatment for Lupus can vary. Sometimes aggressive actions are required to ensure the patient survives a flare. When the body turns on itself, kidney failure, central nervous system damage, heart damage and other vital organ can be affected. Most Lupus patients take a regimen of medication to reduce the number of flares up and control the damage to the body. In some severe cases, high doses of corticosteroids are required to control outcomes. Less severe cases can be treated with nonsterodial anti-inflammatory drugs and at times even Antimalarial drugs are used to control symptoms. There is no known cure for Lupus but treatment has greatly improved outcomes allowing diagnosed patients a longer and happier life span.
